Top Tips to Avoid Mood Swings

If you google Mood Swings, then the first response you get is the following dictionary definition:

  “an abrupt and unaccountable change of mood.”

I don’t like this. Unaccountable means that it is unable to be explained, and thus unable to be controlled or treated. This is just not true!

Think about those days (you would rather not remember) when you have had a few too many the night before. My guess is you probably weren’t the happiest person in the morning. So keep it regulated!
  3. Regulate Caffeine – Let’s not forget that caffeine is a drug. As a stimulant it effects our central nervous system and gives us a boost. But what goes up must come down, which can result in mood swings. So regulate how much tea, coffee or soft drinks you consume to minimise the down.
  4. A Balanced Diet – Yes I know, a balanced diet is pretty much a cure for everything. But seriously “you are what you eat”. If you eat excessive carbohydrates and processed food then not only will you become sluggish and gain weight, but you will also upset the natural hormonal balance of your body.
  5. Get Some Exercise – I’m not talking about a marathon, or pumping weights here. But you should aim to get around 20 – 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise a day.
