What is Tyrosine?

L-tyrosine is a protein amino acid. It is classified as a conditionally essential amino acid.  Under most circumstances, the body can synthesize sufficient L-tyrosine, principally from L-phenylalanine, to meet its physiological demands. However, there are conditions where the body requires a dietary source of the amino acid for its physiological demands.

L-tyrosine has several functions which may assist women who are experiencing hormonal fluctuations. L-tyrosine is a precursor to several important hormones needed for the correct balance of the endocrine system.  It is also a precursor to natural brain neurotransmitters, endorphins. Endorphins are the substances that make us feel good. During times of excess stress and tension our adrenal glands tend to burn out. As a result we feel fatigued and may suffer from chronic exhaustion. Tyrosine supports the body during times of stress and tension.  Supplemental L-tyrosine in 30 Plus NuWoman assists in regulating adrenal and thyroid function as well as improving moods.

As well as helping to regulate hormones Tyrosine is also partly responsible for the production of protein within the body. This is important for cell production as well as other necessary bodily functions.

Sources of Tyrosine

Tyrosine naturally occurs within the body, but in some cases depletion can lead to deficiency. It can also be found naturally occurring in many food items, such as: soy products, chicken, turkey, fish, peanuts, almonds, avocados, bananas, milk, cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese, lima beans, pumpkin seeds, and sesame seeds.
